So what should your daily routine look like, if you want to have a healthy lifestyle?

Back when I was trying to lose weight, I was kind of just flying by the seat of my pants.

I didn’t have a plan,I  didn’t have a structure and I didn’t have anything written down.  I was kind of just like: “Oh yeah, I might make it to the gym at whatever time.  Maybe it’ll happen” “Maybe after work or maybe on my lunch break.”  I never had a plan.  There was no structure.  There was no actual schedule.

Everything Else In Your Life Has A Schedule, So Why Not Your Healthy Lifestyle?

What I realized was: “Oh my gosh, everything else in life is scheduled.” I wake up at a certain time.  I cook breakfast at a certain time.  I go to work at a certain time.  I take a lunch break at a certain time.  I leave work.  I go pick stuff up at a certain time.  It’s crazy, right? When you actually think about it, the rest of your day is completely scheduled.  Even if you’re someone who is not organized, you still have appointments now and then, and events on certain dates.  Everything is scheduled and programmed in our memory.  It becomes such habit for us that we don’t even think about it being scheduled.  But it is.

The biggest tip that I have for you and for your daily routine, that is going to help you live this healthy lifestyle, help you figure it out and be able to lose the weight, is scheduling the time. Okay?

Let me explain an example.  This is actually in one of my programs, but I’ll explain it to you today.  So I have all my LadyBoss subscribers create a timesheet, where they track every 30 minutes of every day.  So, I want you to track what you’re doing, for the entire day.  From the time that you wake up, to the time you go to bed, Okay?

As you’re going through this, and as you’re mapping this out, you’ll start to see exactly how you’re spending time.  Do this for at least 3 days, so you will see where your time is going.  If you are someone with a lot of variety from one day to the next, I would suggest you do this for 1 week, maybe even 2.

Ask Yourself The Tough Questions

When all of your time and your activities are laid out like that, you need to ask yourself these questions:

  • What does your routine look like now?
  • What are the hours that are available?
  • What are the time slots that could be improved, with healthier or more productive things?

Example: Instead of sitting and scrolling Facebook for 30 minutes, you could be scrolling Facebook while doing cardio.  Or, you could do something different entirely like going for a run.  You could even go for a walk or go ride your bike, right?

Where can you see yourself exchange some dull time with getting your workout in, or getting your meal prep done?  Example: Let’s say between 7:00 and 8:30 you are watching TV, scrolling Pinterest and scrolling Facebook.  Maybe from 7:00 to 8:30, you could go to the gym instead and watch your show from the treadmill and scroll Pinterest at the same time! This trick will really help you find those potential time slots in your day, that you could be moving around and be able to workout.

Then, when you figure out what your new schedule could look like, map it out on a time sheet, like you would in a schedule.  It will become just like an appointment, right?  And, just like you don’t show up late to work, you won’t show up late to your workout, because it’s scheduled in your day.  It’s a blocked time that you have.

Once I started doing this, it just got me in such a momentum towards my goal.  It sped it up so fast.  I wasn’t flying by the seat of my pants anymore, I was ready for it.  Once you do three, four, five days with your new calendar, you will see the areas that you could improve on, and where you could be actually working out.

Don’t forget to figure out a time for meal prepping, because it’s going to make it so much easier for you along your journey.  If meal prepping overwhelms you, you can check out my other blogs on meal planning:
