Tea Party, Cookies, & Grandma…

I went to a TEA PARTY!
Most of you guys are pretty aware that I’m a BIG tomboy…

Its very rare that you’ll catch me in something besides gym clothes & my hair in a messy ponytail…

but today I got dressed up for my very first tea party!

(I wore a dress and everything! lol)

My Grandma is in town with us from Kentucky & my mother in law set up this fancy tea time

for us to spend some time together, before she leaves to go back home tomorrow…

We had our own little Tea Room, which was a cozy little nook with a curtain for privacy and our own fire place,

I was only expecting a variety of different teas…

but to my surprise – out came a three tiered rack of decadent finger sandwiches and desserts.

There were 3 dainty snacks of each variety, one for each of us…

Here I am, “the health nut” across from these two wonderful ladies that I’m sharing “tea time” with…

& all three of us are wondering “IS KAELIN GOING TO ENJOY THIS WITH US?”

I could see it in their eyes, just like I’m sure they could read it on my face…

TO EAT THE TREATS or TO NOT EAT THE TREATS??????

…I know you guys are on the edge of your seats right now…

I ATE THE TREATS…

but Before you crucify me or before you run off eating bon bons because I had a Tarte or two…

Let me tell you WHY!…

I have spent YEARS on developing the healthy lifestyle that I live now…

I have completely given up junk foods & sweets…

I kill myself in the gym every day…

I have spent so much time obsessing over the food I eat AND don’t eat…

That sometimes I forget that the moments like today is WHY I PUSH MYSELF SO HARD…

Sitting there, enjoying time with my 83 year old grandma…

& eating a finger sandwich and a couple sweets because it was part of the EXPERIENCE we were having together…

Made our time together even more enjoyable.

Not because of “Food” but because of the conversation we were able to have over sharing these delicate treats, that it looked like Peter Rabbit had prepared for us himself …

…Instead of me just sitting and staring at them eating…

& them feeling guilty eating, while I stared down their sandwiches…

My point here is;

BEING HEALTHY isn’t something that is ruined by one small luncheon, & you shouldn’t miss out on 95% of Life to be 5% leaner.

I realised for the first time today that the REASON I stay super strict on myself & on my diet all the time is so that when moments like today arise, I don’t have to feel guilty or ashamed…

because I know that I’ve worked my butt off and a little brownie can’t hurt the lifestyle I’ve built!

So, I want to encourage you ladies today…

to develop that lifestyle, and that healthy living that you eat good, exercise often, & stay true to your plan…

so that when special moments arise, you too can enjoy a special moment with a loved one & not have to feel guilty…

because you’ve been working so hard for so long that a little treat isn’t going to hurt you…

NOW DON’T GO LOOKING FOR ANY EXCUSE TO ORDER PIZZA AND ICE CREAM RIGHT NOW!

I’m not talking about getting CRAZY HERE! …
