Can you workout without a program?

I thought I could workout without a program back when I was trying to lose weight. I was trying to lose 65 pounds, and I was going to the gym for the first time. I thought: “ I’ll just watch what everyone else is doing and I’ll just make it up as I go. I don’t really need a plan. I don’t need a program. I don’t need someone telling me what to do.”
Here’s The Problem…
You will find out soon enough that without a plan or a program that’s showing you what to do and how to do it efficiently you risk getting hurt.
Without direction on proper body positioning, especially if you are a beginner, you will eventually get injured. I 100% believe that you should start on a program or on a plan that shows you how to exercise correctly.
I see a lot of new people in the gym using all the machines incorrectly, or using the weights incorrectly. I’m just thinking: “Oh my gosh, they’re going to end up hurting themselves.”
I was that person. I was doing some goofy stuff that I was seeing all over the place, and I never realized that I was doing it wrong and that my incorrect form was going to hurt me in the long run. I had no idea it was going to cause problems in my elbows and in my knees because I wasn’t doing the exercises correctly.
I believe that you should have a program or a plan that’s going to give you tutorial videos, to show you how to do those exercises correctly. You should invest in something that will teach you what posture or form you should have, so you can get the results that you want to get.
Just because you have a plan, or are using a program, it doesn’t mean that it lessens you. It doesn’t mean that you can’t do it on your own. You CAN do it on your own, but you want to make sure that you have the proper guidance in the beginning. You need to make sure you check out some tutorials, so you don’t end up hurting yourself in the long run. You need to make sure the movements you are doing now, or are about to do, are not hindering your success.
This Is A Shortcut You Don’t Want To Take.
I know you probably want to get started as soon as possible and get your results fast. I remember wanting to be in the gym and thinking: “Oh, okay, I see how they’re doing it over there. I’ll try to do it the same way.”
Even though, in my mind, I thought I was doing it the same way — I totally wasn’t. Someone had to swing by and correct my form. But, after they did, I got stronger. That’s how I realized it is worth taking your time to understand the proper form you need to have. My endurance got better because I was actually doing it right.
You should always start out with a plan or a program that shows you how to do it, so you can get those results that you want and so you can get stronger, leaner, faster. Your endurance will increase.
If you base your posture just by looking at other people in the gym, or by mimicking their movements, you’re gearing yourself up for failure and for injury. You’re going to find yourself falling off the bandwagon because you’re not going to feel like you know what you’re doing. Get a plan, get a program, and learn how it’s done.
