What is the best time to workout?

For me, this is really funny, because I used to ask myself this question all the time.  I would ask every fit person I would run into and every person I would see at the gym. I was like:

  • “What is the best time to work out?”
  • “What is the best time to do cardio?”
  • “When is the best time to weight train?”
  • “What order should I do it in?”
  • “When is the best time if I want to get the most out of my results?”

I wanted to get results in the fastest way possible.  But, everyone would give me a different answer.  Some people would be like:”Oh, you need to work out in the morning.  Make sure you don’t eat, then do cardio.” Someone else would tell me: “Oh, late at night is the best time because you’re done with your day and you’re not thinking about work. This way when you are done, you can go straight to bed and recuperate, for best gains.”  Then someone else would tell me: “Midday is when you need to work out, on your lunch break.”

I was just like: “Oh, my gosh.  Everyone has a different answer.”

I Have The Real Answer For You…

The best time to workout –Here it is–Are you ready?

Okay, the best time to workout is when you can be CONSISTENT at working out, Okay? I don’t want to tell you that the best time for you to work out is 5:00 AM, if you can’t be consistent with working out at 5:00 AM.  I don’t want to tell you that the best time to work out is 8:00 PM at night, if you can’t be consistent with getting to the gym after work at nighttime.  I don’t want to tell you the best time to work out is on your lunch break, if that’s nearly impossible to do with your job.

The best time to workout–is when you can be consistent with it, at least four to seven days a week.  So, find that time that’s going to be right for you. When is the time that you can show up there, at a scheduled time, like it’s an appointment in your day. Just like you show up for work on time, when is that time that you can show up to the gym and be consistent?

Some of us might be early birds, right? Personally, I like to get to the gym in the morning.  I can be consistent with that.

For those of you that are like: “Heck, no. I can’t get up any earlier. I’m not a morning person. I sleep. I hit the snooze button until the very last possible chance that I can,” then working out in the morning is not something you’re going to be able to stay consistent with.  I would say you’re more of the night time workout type.

Are You “Too Busy” To Workout?…

Sit down and look at your schedule.  We often think we can’t fit one more thing in there, when in reality there is always a bit of lag time somewhere.  

Think about it,

You could compile that lag time of scrolling on Facebook, or looking at Pinterest, or watching TV, and do it while walking on the treadmill at the gym.  You could do those two things at once!

Just find that time that’s consistent with you. Schedule it in your calendar.  Make an appointment with yourself.  Show up and don’t be late.  Do not skip.  You wouldn’t skip a meeting with your boss in his office, right?  Don’t skip the time you invest on yourself.
