What’s the best fitness equipment to have at home?  I get asked this question all the time!

There are only 2 things you absolutely need in your house…

1- Piece Of Cardio Equipment.

Personally, I have an elliptical machine. I’ve had two knee surgeries, so in my case, it is the best form of cardio I can do.  This cardio machine allows me to wake up in the morning and do my cardio right away, and then get ready for work.  I don’t have to get up and then go to the gym and then come back here and then get ready and then go to work.  I have my piece of cardio equipment in my house that I can use in the morning before work, or in the evening after work.  The fact that I have a piece of cardio at home, makes it easy to watch my favorite show at the same time.

However, this does not mean you should get an elliptical machine.  I’ve also had treadmills in the past, that I bought off of Craigslist for super cheap.

2- Foam Roller.

A foam roller is something you can use at home to help decrease soreness and built up lactic acid in your body.  You know those days when you’re done with your leg workout and you can barely walk?  A foam roller would help you roll out that lactic acid, as well as decrease the soreness and the cramps in your body.  

You can use it in the morning, the evening, or throughout the day, to help your body recover and prevent muscle soreness.

A Word On Weight Training Equipment…

I know a lot of people that have weight training equipment at home.

Personally, I don’t like that idea, because I like my weight training workouts to be separate from my home.  When I’m home, I’m in relax mode.  I’m in unwind mode. I like  my space to kind of chill out.

I like my weight training workout space to be at the gym.  So, when I walk in there, that’s what I’m there for.  I’m focused and I am ready to go.  

As opposed to when I workout at home, I tend to think about laundry, the dishes and everything else on my to-do list.  I always have a million things to do when I’m home.  But when I’m at the gym, I’m not thinking about all the things I need to do at home.
