Once Thanksgiving is over, many of us go into this downward spiral.  It goes from having our favorite foods on Thanksgiving, to having our favorite foods and our favorite treats for the entire month of December, all the way through Christmas and New Year’s Day!

So this year, I’m going to give you some tips on how to stay hot over the holidays.

Tip #1 Is To Stock The Fridge.

Stock your fridge differently this year than you have in past years.  I know for me, back when I needed to lose 65 pounds, my fridge looked completely different than what it does now during the holidays.

The trick is to keep all kinds of healthy food, extra prepped meals, and convenient snacks in your fridge.  Why? — Because this is the busiest time of the year for most of us.  We not only have work commitments, but we also have family commitments and commitments with our friends.  And, we want to be able to do it all.

So, the trick here is to stock the fridge with a ton of healthy foods.  Then, when you get busy wrapping presents; or when you’re tired because you’ve been gone all day, instead of reaching for a bag of cookies, you will have healthy meals already prepared.

Instead of reaching for Christmas treats, or a hot chocolate, you can grab a healthy snack in the refrigerator.  I’m talking sliced peppers, pickles, carrots, raw veggies, hummus, and all kinds of healthy snacks you can grab quickly when you want to fill that craving.

Over Prepare Yourself

Over prep your meals for the next couple of weeks.  This means prepping four weeks worth of meals for the next three weeks.  Why? — Because you will be busy trying to get stuff done in the day-to-day hustle.

You’re going to be running around.  You’re going to be trying to get presents, attend family gatherings, and get your kids ready.  You’re going to try to be everywhere this month.

So, keeping those healthy and quick meals in your fridge is going to prevent visits to the drive through or settling for a quick snack at the gas station.  You will have your healthy meals with you.  

We all know you’re not going to have time to cook in a week or two.  So, take a day this week and sit down to map out what your meals are going to be.  Then, start cooking and prepping for three to four weeks.   Baggie everything up, and put food in tupperwares.  Freeze everything and then rotate them out.  

Keeping your fridge stocked with healthy meals and healthy snacks over the next couple of weeks, all the way to Christmas, is really going to help you stay on track.  Convenience is usually what makes us fall off the wagon.  However, if your healthy meals are convenient, then you won’t have a problem this year.
