Negative Self Talk = Poison
If you’re constantly having negative self talk in your mind, like:
- “I’m no good”
- “I can’t do this”
- “I look terrible in this”
- “I don’t have any confidence”
- “I’m not pretty”
It will become a reality in your life, okay? Just like repeating positive affirmations about yourself everyday will become a reality in your life. So, you need to be careful about the nature of your self-talk. What you say to yourself everyday becomes extremely important.
You Won’t Believe It At First..
When you first try to say positive things about yourself, you might not believe it. It might feel awkward to tell yourself that you’re amazing; that you have high energy; that you’re beautiful; or that you’re confident. However, the more you repeat it, the more you will believe it to be true.
You need to be your own number one cheerleader, because no one else is going to do it for you. YOU have to do it.
This Is What I Do
What I do is I listen to my negative self-talk, and I use it to determine what my positive self affirmations will be. I take whatever negative thought that I have about myself, and I flip it on its head. Let’s say I hear myself say: “I don’t look good in anything I put on“, then I’ll actually write down: “I look good in everything that I put on.”
Write a giant list on a piece of paper like:
- “I am beautiful”
- “I’m amazing”
- “I’m high in energy.”
- “I’m healthy.”
- “I’m happy.”
- “I am beautiful.”
- “I’m confident.”
- “I’m unstoppable.”
- “I work hard.”
Write all of those down.
Then, what I like to do is pick a few everyday and actually write them on my bathroom mirror in a dry erase marker. You can use lipstick or whatever works for you.
Every day when I wake up, and I am brushing my teeth, I repeat them as I get ready. I say: “I am beautiful. I am confident. I am amazing. I am unstoppable. I work hard.”
As you repeat those everyday, even though you might not believe it in the beginning, your mind will start to shift. You will start to hear yourself think:”Yeah, I AM beautiful, I AM confident, I DO work hard and I kick butt every day. I AM amazing.” You will believe it about yourself.
If you’re not speaking positively into your life, then you’re speaking death. Write out your affirmations right now. Grab a dry erase marker and write them on your bathroom mirror and speak them into your life every single day and speak life, instead of death.
