What are cheat meals
& why should you have them?
How frequently do I have cheat meals?”
Well, I do it once a week as a reward…
for sticking to my diet of complex carbs, healthy fats, and lean protein. But I only do it if I have stayed on my diet plan the entire week with no cheating and no snacking at all. It’s a cheat meal, not a cheat day!
You must focus on your strict diet. Be aware of what you are eating. Don’t forget and accidentally eat an entire bag of Doritos! (Yes, they are wonderful but chock full of calories.) You do something like that, there is no reward for you that week. After you’ve been on that strict diet for a week, you are going to want that reward meal!
After a week of sacrificing, I want my favorites. For me, that is usually a Papa Murphy’s pizza and Cold Stone Cake Batter ice cream. Those are my two favorite things for a “cheat meal”, not a “cheat day”. There is no such thing as a cheat day—that will get you off track really quick. It’s one cheat meal a week but exceptions are made for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Those are the whole two cheat days feasts.
Pick your favorite entrée (the one you miss the most) and that special dessert you crave when you’re dying for something sweet or chocolatey. Now that’s your goal for the week, your reward meal.
This cheat meal helps you mentally and your body, too.
Once you start restricting your body to a six day diet, your metabolism really starts working harder. When you are eating healthy foods, your body doesn’t have to work as hard to burn those foods. But when you have pizza and ice cream, your metabolism really has to ramp up to digest that food. This helps you reset your metabolism for the next week and gets it to speed up.
If I can lose 65 pounds, you can do it, too. Cheat meals helped me reach my goals & keep my sanity.
