this ain’t a disney movie…‏
Real life doesn’t always have a cinderella ending…

I think we can all agree on that, right?

Not everything always goes our way when the odds are stacked against us…

We don’t always get what we want, we don’t always defy the odds, and we DEFINITELY don’t always win…

You may not know this about me but I LOVE basketball.

I grew up playing it pretty much my whole life…

That’s actually where the name “Tuell Time” came from!

A had a knack for draining 3 pointers in those clutch moments…

And I very humbly remember the crowd chanting it at times 😉

Even though I wasn’t the tallest or most naturally talented, I worked the hardest and a lot of the time I came out on top…

My senior year of high school, I ended up receiving a Division 1 basketball scholarship to Winston Salem State, a dream come true! …

But mine wasn’t a cinderella story…

In one of the last games of my senior season, I ripped my ACL during a game…

The POP was so loud, everybody heard it…

It was at that point I felt like my entire life was OVER….

Everything I had worked for was gone in an instant…

Have you ever had one of those moments?

You see it’s not about what happens to us, but what we DO about what happens…

After a very sad time in my life, I got surgery and kept pushing forward…

I couldn’t play basketball that next year, but I was healthy enough and ended up opting for playing my second favorite sport, softball instead, and was able to get most of my tuition paid for by academic scholarships to Hanover College…

It was through that journey and a series of events that led me to where I am today, blessed with the opportunity to be writing to you, right now in this moment…

I could’ve given up, I could’ve used my injury as an excuse to never play another sport again, I could’ve crumbled under the unfortunate event and quit altogether, but I didn’t…

I made a decision that I wasn’t going to let my circumstances define me, and SO ARE YOU…

This week, I want to challenge you to rise above your circumstances…

Rise above the excuses you’ve been holding on to…

Rise above the expectations everyone else has for you…

Rise above the LIES you tell yourself about how your never going to be fit, how you can’t do it, and how it’s “too hard”…

Because in reality, IF you don’t let your circumstances control you, you will realize you ALREADY HAVE EVERYTHING you need to reach your fitness goal…

Now go get it…

With LOVE always,

Kaelin Tuell Poulin
